Efficiency means doing things the right way.
Effectiveness means doing the right things.
With automation, you can’t focus just on the efficiency.
The key is to find the intersection of efficiency and effectiveness:
- Find things that bring results.
- Make sure they are done productively.
- Make time for them.
Automation can help with steps 2 and 3, but you have to go through the step 1 first.
If you skip it, you may end up doing the wrong thing faster.
And doing the wrong thing, even in the most optimal way, not only won’t bring results but can be even harmful.
